This contest gives local 6th grade elementary students an opportunity to show their artist abilities in designing the Annual Christmas Pin for the City of Gillette Community. Each year in August, Art Teachers at each elementary school in Gillette inform students to create a drawing to be submitted for selection by the Mayor’s Art Council. This contest is optional.
The winner is recognized at a Gillette City Council meeting in December. The Student receives $50.00 and an envelope of Christmas pins to share with family and friends. The Student's Art Teacher receives $150.00 for their art budget to use towards the current school year.
All entries are to have a theme of Christmas and the Gillette Community. The artwork will be reduced to about the size of a quarter, so designs must be large.
Entries must be drawn on 9X12 white drawing paper in black & white only, no color. Pencil line drawings need to be traced with a black marker for clarity
First Name, Last Name, School and Art Teacher’s Name need to be written on the back of the drawing, in pencil, not marker
Entries must be delivered to the Gillette Mayor’s Office (downtown) by October 1st by 5:00 p.m. Entries submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
